Removing surface coatings
Planing, alternatively referred to as fine milling, is the act of removing surface coatings at controlled depths. Using our advanced electric equipment, we’re able to work dust free – if this is required – and deliver a range of finishes suitable for your needs.
Typically, removing surface coatings is challenging and time-consuming. Particularly when dealing with stubborn or thick coatings in harsh environments. The process of chemical stripping or sandblasting is outdated, inefficient, messy and hazardous to on-site workers and the environment.
With planing machines, the removal of surface layers and coatings is far faster, it generates minimal dust and debris, increases surface quality and smoothness, and reduces safety risks and environmental impacts.
Our experts use industry leading planing machines, equipped with the appropriate cutter heads, abrasive drums, or diamond-tipped bits. The process involves cutting or grinding away the surface layer by layer to gradually expose the underlying substrate.
WJ Industrial will also adhere to specific safety protocols and our team of specialists will always execute planing applications wearing protective clothing to avoid any exposure to dust particles. Our commitment is to assess the safety implications of any project prior to commencing work – this is done in collaboration with our customers to ensure the best, most productive outcome.
Where is it used?
- As part of our planing fleet we operate a diesel Wirtgen 35dc & w350s and an electric Wirtgen w350E to conduct through coating removals.
- WJ Industrial is one of the only contractors to operate an electric planing machine, which means we eliminate emissions and fuel from all our works.
- Our machines are capable of completing any size project in any sector, across any application.
