Surface Prepped
The first stage of the process was stripping, which is necessary for removing durable materials like carpet, vinyl, tiles, or heavy-duty resin coatings. These materials are designed to withstand significant wear and tear, making their removal a challenging task that requires specialist equipment. The previous flooring in the new store was robust and designed to endure heavy use, making it unsuitable for simple removal methods. WJ Industrial employed two skid steer loaders to efficiently strip the vinyl flooring, ensuring the removal was conducted safely and swiftly.
Once the floor was stripped concrete grinding was employed to level and smooth the surface in preparation for the store’s new coatings. For this project, WJ Industrial used Europe’s largest three-tiered grinder (nicknamed ‘The Bull’) to cover the large areas quickly and efficiently, ensuring the bulk of the concrete surface was efficiently prepared to the highest standard. Additionally, push-along and hand-held grinders were used for the edges and more intricate areas, ensuring every part of the floor was prepped and ready for the new coating.
The successful floor preparation for The Range at Brunel Retail Park underscores WJ Industrial’s expertise in surface preparation. By employing advanced techniques and equipment, including their three-tiered grinder, push-along and hand-held grinders, and two Bobcats for vinyl removal, WJ Industrial ensured a smooth, ready-to-coat surface that was delivered to schedule.
